What Is a Blackout Studio?
A blackout studio (or black box studio) is a controlled, lightproof environment used in professional film and photography. With black wool-serge curtains and removable black flooring, it enables complete darkness—so you can light subjects exactly how you want without interference from natural or spill light. This can also create an infinitely black background.
Whether you’re aiming for deep shadows, infinite black backgrounds, silhouette profiles, or moody key lighting, this space gives you the creative freedom to achieve bold, cinematic visuals.
